Patna, Nov 6 (UNI) Expressing confidence that a new Mahagathbandhan government will be formed on November 14, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader and the alliance’s chief ministerial face Tejashwi Yadav today accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of voter manipulation and the misuse of government machinery during the ongoing Bihar Assembly elections.
“There will be a change on November 14, bring change, form a new government,” Yadav told reporters after casting his vote in the first phase of polling at a booth in Patna.
Yadav alleged that the Ministry of Railways was “arranging special trains” to bring in voters from outside Bihar to support the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
“The Ministry of Railways is arranging special trains to send migrant workers from Bihar to vote in favour of the BJP, and return tickets are also being provided! This is the same Modi government that was reluctant to arrange trains for Biharis wishing to return home for Chhath. At that time, no arrangements were made for migrant workers,” he said.
The RJD leader further accused the Modi government of double standards, recalling how the Centre had failed to provide transport facilities to stranded labourers during the COVID-19 lockdown (2020–21), but was now allegedly arranging trains “for its own electoral benefit.”
Yadav, the Mahagathbandhan’s Chief Ministerial candidate and RJD nominee from Raghopur, appealed to the people of Bihar to come out and vote in large numbers as polling began in 121 constituencies across 18 districts in the first phase of the elections.
“14 November ko nayi sarkaar banne wali hai,” he told reporters, signalling optimism as voting got underway across the state.
Tejashwi, accompanied by his wife Rajshree Yadav, arrived early at the polling station to cast their votes. Their appearance drew significant public and media attention amid tight security arrangements.
Stressing that the “destiny of Bihar” depends on each vote, Yadav urged citizens to vote in the interest of “democracy, the Constitution, and humanity.”
“Today is an important day for voting. The future destiny of Bihar will be determined by the single button you press. I appeal to everyone — especially first-time Gen-Z voters, mothers and sisters, traders, farmers, migrants, students preparing for jobs, patients and their families — to cast your vote under all circumstances,” he said in a post on X.
“Bihar’s condition will only improve when every citizen exercises their democratic right,” he added.
“Make Bihar Corruption- and Crime-Free”
In a video message attached to his social media post, Yadav appealed to people to support the Mahagathbandhan’s candidates and vote for change.
“This is my appeal — everyone must exercise their right to vote. Elect the Mahagathbandhan’s candidate with a big majority and change this dilapidated government. Make Bihar a corruption- and crime-free state,” he said.
He further urged voters to reflect on Bihar’s persistent challenges, saying, “Make your family members aware — there is no employment, industry, IT park, data centre, agro-based industry or food-processing unit in Bihar. People are forced to migrate for education, employment and healthcare. The time has come to change this.”
