Teen takes his life after dispute over marriage

Bhopal: A heartbreaking incident occurred on intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday when a 17-year-old boy, Mujammil Uddin, tragically took his own life by hanging himself. Mujammil, who lived in Ashoka Garden, had recently introduced his minor girlfriend to his mother, expressing his desire to marry her. However, his mother advised him that they should wait until they reached adulthood before considering marriage. After this, she sent the girl home.

Feeling frustrated and upset by his mother’s response, Mujammil returned to his room. His mother later attempted to call him for dinner, only to find him unresponsive, having hanged himself. Neighbors assisted in bringing him down and he was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Had been working as a computer operator

Mujammil had left school after completing the 10th grade and had been working as a computer operator at MP Online Shop for the past year. His father had passed away previously, making him the only son in the family, with an elder sister. Friends noted that he had expressed anger over the situation with his mother, which may have contributed to his tragic decision. Prior to the hanging, he had attempted to harm himself by consuming a household insecticide, but his mother intervened. The police have registered a case and are investigating.
