Chief Minister Dr. Yadav was addressing the state-level program at the State Museum on the occasion of World Museum Day. He inaugurated the Immersive Experience Centre and virtually launched associated events in Indore, Gwalior, and Jabalpur.
Dr. Yadav said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, we are witnessing a transforming India. This transformation is evident in every sector. Museums are no longer just for historians and researchers—they have become centres of curiosity and knowledge for the general public as well.
Praising the State Museum, the Chief Minister remarked that a visit to Bhopal would now be incomplete without experiencing the State Museum. He directed the Department of School Education, Higher Education, and the State Tourism Development Corporation to jointly schedule museum visits for students division-wise. This will help students connect with the state’s rich historical heritage and raise awareness about the museum’s offerings.
Dr. Yadav also emphasised that multiple initiatives are being carried out across the state to connect the public with religious, cultural, and historical sites. Cultural gateways dedicated to great personalities are being developed at key entry points of major cities. Traditionally, temples were only known as places of worship, but structures like Mahakal Lok have transformed them into cultural and public interest destinations. From architecture and coinage to the broader way of life, ancient Indian civilisation was highly advanced. By using modern technology to conserve and present these aspects, we can keep our heritage relevant and appealing for present and future generations.
The Chief Minister also visited the “Museum Fair” held at the State Museum, where he observed various stalls related to archaeological conservation and development. He explored different types of excavation tools, digital archiving techniques, and admired miniature models of historic buildings created using 3D printing and casting, as well as POP (Plaster of Paris) sculptures.
For the first time in Madhya Pradesh, Dr. Yadav inaugurated the Virtual Museum Centre “Aankhon Dekha”, which offers visitors a unique digital experience. Through interactive and immersive technologies, the center allows for an in-depth, self-guided tour of the museum. Visitors will be able to experience a fascinating 3D stereoscopic journey through grand historical palaces and artifacts.
He also unveiled the official mascot “Wakankar Dada”, dedicated to the legacy and contributions of the renowned archaeologist, Padma Shri Vishnu Shridhar Wakankar.
Additionally, the Chief Minister released the second edition of the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board’s quarterly newsletter, “Offbeat Madhya Pradesh,” and launched 11 new books published by the Directorate of Archaeology, including titles on the archaeology of Bhind, Ratlam, Betul, Barwani, and Katni districts, as well as books on the painted rock shelters of Bhopal and Raisen, and manuals on conservation and regulatory guidelines of the Directorate.
Principal Secretary, Culture, Shri Shiv Shekhar Shukla, also shared updates on the various initiatives being undertaken by the Directorate of Archaeology.
