Teachers welcome students, children happy to reunite with classmates

  • Schools reopen in MP; board exams begin from today

Bhopal: After nearly one-and-half month summer break, all government schools in Madhya Pradesh, including capital Bhopal, reopened on Monday. The first day saw teachers warmly welcoming students with tilak and hugs. However, attendance remained low on the reopening day.

Students, delighted to reunite with their classmates after the long vacation, were visibly enthusiastic. Meanwhile, the Education Department had already begun the admission process for primary to higher secondary classes before schools reopened.

Second-chance board examinations for Class 10 and 12 are set to begin from Tuesday, June 17, and will continue till July 5. Exams will be conducted from 9 am to 12 noon at designated centers. Admit cards have been issued and are available online. Around 3.31 lakh students will appear for this second-chance exam, while approximately 5.10 lakh students who failed earlier are not taking part—resulting in a participation rate of about 65 percent.

Several private schools extend vacations

On the other hand, several private schools have chosen to extend their summer vacations for students up to Class 8 until June 23 due to the ongoing severe heat. Classes for students from Class 9 to 12 will continue as per the regular schedule.

Bhopal District Education Officer (DEO) Narendra Ahirwar confirmed that the state government has not issued any directive to close schools. He stated that the decision to delay reopening was made independently by private institutions.
