- Lecture highlights role of educators in shaping responsible citizens
Bhopal: A lecture on “The Role of Teachers in Civic Duties” was organised by the Department of Indian Knowledge System (IKS) at NITTTR Bhopal, emphasising the transformative role of educators in society. The keynote address was delivered by Vikrant Khandelwal, organization secretary, Bharat Vikas Parishad.
Khandelwal elaborated on Indian educational philosophy, stating that creation is impossible without sensitivity, making it essential for teachers to be empathetic and self-reflective. He stressed that education should be viewed not only as a right but also as a duty, remarking that “rights and duties are the two wheels of a vehicle.” Public conduct, he said, reflects one’s true identity, and life should be meaningful, not merely successful. Teachers, he added, play a crucial role in instilling these values.
Dr. C.C. Tripathi, Director, NITTTR Bhopal, described teachers as powerful agents of social change whose dedication shapes ideal citizens. Prof. P.K. Purohit, Dean of Science and Head, IKS, highlighted the role of teachers in preserving cultural heritage while advancing knowledge.
The programme was conducted by Babli Chaturvedi and attended by Vandana Tripathi, Dr. R.K. Dixit, Dr. Ramendra Singh, and other faculty and staff.
