Tariq Al-Saies fronts Berlin-set crime prequel ‘4 Blocks Zero’

Berlin, Jan 21 (UNI) ‘Blindspot’ actor Tariq Al-Saies will play the lead in “4 Blocks Zero”, the forthcoming German crime drama that serves as a prequel to the cult hit “4 Blocks”.

Al-Saies will headline the eight-episode drama as Ibrahim Mansour, the central figure in the origin story of the Hamady family. Set in 1990s Berlin, the eight-episode series explores the early years of the Hamady family following their arrival from Lebanon, charting their ascent within the city’s criminal underworld.

Al-Saies is known for roles in the likes of ZDF’s Liberame – After the Storm, MBC’s Al Zind and NBC procedural Blindspot. He is represented by Actorsgarden, reports DEADLINE.

With HBO Max having recently entered the German market, “4 Blocks Zero” is being positioned as a cornerstone European title for the streamer. W&B Television is the producer, with a fall 2026 debut lined up.

The creative team includes head writer Bernd Lange, with Bahar Bektaş, Natalie Zoghbi, and Hassan Akkouch, and directors Özgür Yıldırım, Hüseyin Tabak, Matthias Bolliger, and Max Preiss. Executive producers are Quirin Berg, Max Wiedemann, Marcus Welke, Matthias Junge, and Yıldırım, with Anke Greifeneder overseeing the project for HBO Max.

The original “4 Blocks” aired for three seasons on Warner Bros Discovery’s German network TNT Series and streamed internationally on Prime Video, concluding its run in November 2019. Last month, the show was picked as a European drama to watch out for in 2026. UNI NST SSP
