Swati Maliwal assault case: Delhi Police moves HC against lower court order

New Delhi, Mar 4 (UNI) The city police on Tuesday moved Delhi High Court, challenging the Sessions court’s order seeking to provide a list of documents to alleged accused Bibhav Kumar, in Swati Maliwal assault case.

A bench of single judge Justice Vikas Mahajan has adjourned the matter for March 11 for filing the response on behalf of Bibhav Kumar.

In this matter, Bibhav Kumar, a close aide of former Delhi’s chief minister Arvind Kejriwal, is accused of

assaulting Swati Maliwal at the Chief Minister’s residence in New Delhi on May 13 last year.

Delhi Police has registered an FIR (first information report) against Kumar on May 16 under various provisions of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), related to criminal intimidation, assault or use of criminal force with intent to disrobe a woman and attempted culpable homicide.

The Supreme Court had granted bail to Bibhav Kumar in September last year after his bail plea was dismissed by both the Trial court and High Court.
