Dubai, Dec 12 (UNI) India U19’s Asia Cup opener turned into the Vaibhav Suryavanshi show as the young batting prodigy smashed a breathtaking 171 off 95 balls, single-handedly dismantling the UAE attack and setting up India’s mammoth 234-run victory on Friday.
Walking in after an early wicket, Suryavanshi transformed the innings with a power-hitting masterclass that left UAE bowlers rattled and spectators stunned. His strike rate of 180, punctuated by 14 towering sixes, made the difference between a strong total and an almost unreachable one.
Every phase of India’s innings bent to his will, from stabilising the early wobble to launching a relentless assault that turned the game into a one-sided affair.
With impeccable timing, clean swing, and absolute control, Suryavanshi dictated the tempo. His 212-run stand with Aaron George became the spine of India’s record-setting 433/6. Even after his dismissal, the momentum he created helped India’s middle and lower order continue the carnage.
The UAE bowlers had no answers as Suryavanshi picked lengths early, targeted the shorter boundaries, and cleared the ropes with an ease that belied his age. His knock not only broke the back of UAE’s plans but effectively sealed the contest before the halfway mark.
India’s bowlers wrapped up the job with clinical efficiency, tearing through UAE’s top order to leave them reeling at 48/5 before the innings crawled to 199/7, thanks largely to Uddish Suri’s gritty 78 off 106 balls. Yet, despite the late resistance, the spotlight never shifted, the day remained firmly owned by one man.
