Mumbai, July 30 (UNI) Bollywood action star Sunny Deol gears up to headline an upcoming large-scale action thriller film.
Following the blockbuster success of “Gadar 2” and “Jaat”, Deol has once again cemented his reputation as one of Hindi cinema’s most bankable stars. The year 2025 already promises to be significant for the veteran actor, with titles such as “Border 2”, “Lahore 1947” and “Ramayana: Part One” on the horizon. Now, adding to the excitement, sources have confirmed that Sunny Deol is set to lead an ambitious action thriller produced by Excel Entertainment, co-founded by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani.
A source shared, “The yet untitled action thriller will mark the first collaboration between Sunny Deol and Excel Entertainment. The two stakeholders have been in talks for a while now, and are excited to collaborate on a high-concept big-budget action thriller.
“Sunny loves the script and is excited to partner with Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani on the film.” The source also revealed that the film will mark the directorial debut of Balaji, who has worked as an assistant and associate director in several Tamil blockbusters.
The film is set to go on the floors in December, with the production team currently immersed in pre-visualisation and world-building to ensure its theatrical grandeur.
“It’s a larger-than-life feature film with Sunny Deol in an avatar that the audience loves to see him in. Excel too is going all out to ensure that their maiden collaboration with Sunny turns out to be a special treat for the cinema-going audience, with a lot of intense and high-on-drama moments” the source added.
Casting for the supporting roles is currently underway, and the official announcement regarding the film’s title and first visuals expected in the near future.
