Sudhanshu Trivedi says Kejriwal acquitted due to lack of proof, party to respond after examining court order

New Delhi, Feb 27 (UNI) Reacting to the discharge of AAP national convenor and former Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal in the Excise Policy case, BJP MP Sudhanshu Trivedi on Friday said the lower court had cleared him due to lack of evidence but raised questions over what he described as “technical issues” in the matter.

Speaking to reporters, Trivedi said the court acquitted Kejriwal in the absence of proof and termed the case a “technical subject.”

He alleged that hundreds of mobile phones and SIM cards were destroyed. He said the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) would take appropriate steps to address the issue of alleged destruction of evidence.

“As far as the party is concerned, we will give a structured reply after studying the judgment in detail. If the entire charges were baseless, then how did the court permit framing of charges?” Trivedi questioned.

He added that there were certain technical aspects involved and that the Bharatiya Janata Party would respond formally after examining the full court order.

Trivedi alleged that if Kejriwal was making political allegations, it was unprecedented in political history.

He claimed that while the BJP had never joined hands with the Congress in the past 75 years, Kejriwal’s party aligned with the Congress within 75 days, despite earlier criticism.

The BJP leader also referred to past instances where Kejriwal had apologised in court to leaders, including Nitin Gadkari, Arun Jaitley and Manish Tewari over defamation cases.

Trivedi said that on political grounds, the people of Delhi had already given their response to Kejriwal.
