Student protests erupt over nursing education crisis

  • Submit memorandum to Registrar

Bhopal – Nursing students, under the banner of the NSO Student Organization, staged a vigorous protest and submitted a memorandum to the Registrar of the Nursing Council in Bhopal and the Deputy Chief Minister’s residence, demanding urgent action to save their academic careers.

Subhash Kushwaha, the organization’s state president, stated that the future of thousands of students is at risk due to severe mismanagement and alleged corruption within the council. He highlighted that GNM students from the 2022-23 batch have yet to receive their first-year results, three years after their exams, with no sign of a timetable for their second-year exams. This delay is turning a three-year diploma course into a six-year ordeal.

Similar issues plague ANM students, whose two-year course is also severely delayed. Compounding the problem, many SC, ST, and OBC students have not received their scholarships for the past four years, forcing some to abandon their studies.

The students are demanding the immediate declaration of all pending results, timely conduct of future exams, disbursement of scholarships, and the proper distribution of mark sheets. They have also called for action against the officials responsible for the delays. The council has promised to resolve these issues within 15 days, but students have warned of more intense protests in Bhopal and Delhi if their demands are not met.
