Deputy Chief Minister Jagdish Deora said that illegal sale of liquor should be strictly banned in MP and strict action should be taken against organized crime. Devda said this in a workshop of licensees of retail liquor shops regarding the determination of new excise policy, excise system year 2025-26 organized at the Institute of Environmental Studies, IPCO, Bhopal on Monday. Deputy Chief Minister Devda also held a meeting with distillers and domestic / foreign liquor manufacturers and bar-licensees. Devda also discussed the achievements of the Commercial Tax Department.
Deputy Chief Minister Devda directed all departmental officers that it is their duty to remain alert against illegal activities by staying at their headquarters. He said that illegal transportation of liquor should not happen under any circumstances and strict action should be taken against organized criminals. A close watch will be kept on the illegal trade of liquor in the state and strict action will be taken wherever information of illegal trade or black marketing is received. The Deputy Chief Minister said that the Commercial Tax Department has an important contribution in giving revenue to the state government. The revenue target of the Excise Department in the financial year 2024-25 is Rs 16 thousand crore. I am confident that with the coordinated efforts of all of you, we will achieve this target as well.
