Strict action against those tarnishing party’s image: Sabnani

  • Matter is of Zila Panchayat members

Bhopal: BJP MLA and State General Secretary Bhagwan Das Sabnani has issued a stern warning against indiscipline within the party ranks, asserting that the BJP will adhere strictly to its core principles and take action against any member acting out of personal interest at the cost of party discipline.

His remarks came after reports surfaced that some BJP-backed district panchayat members staged a hunger strike in the ADM’s vehicle parking area without prior permission. Though the protest was aimed at highlighting water issues in the region, Sabnani emphasized that such unauthorized acts by ruling party members reflect poorly on the party and are unacceptable.

Two district panchayat members had claimed to have sought permission from the Collector, but as per regulations, protests or fasts within government premises require formal approval from the SDM office, based on police recommendations. No such permission was granted.

Sabnani made it clear that whether it’s a grassroots worker or an elected representative, no one is above party discipline. Actions aimed at cheap publicity or targeting departments under the guise of protest will be dealt with firmly. The incident has exposed divisions among panchayat members, and all eyes are now on how the BJP enforces internal discipline.
