Stopped from meeting Sonam Wangchuk, alleges Delhi CM Atishi

New Delhi, Oct 1 (UNI) Delhi Chief Minister Atishi on Tuesday alleged that she was not allowed to meet environmental activist Sonam Wangchuk, who was detained by the police yesterday and said that it is BJP’s dictatorship.

Addressing the media, Atishi said, “I went to Bawana police station to meet Sonam Wangchuk and 150 brothers and sisters from Ladakh. The Delhi police did not allow me to meet them.”

The CM alleged that Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena made a call to stop the elected Chief Minister from meeting them, stating, “This dictatorship is not acceptable.”

Demanding full statehood for both Ladakh and Delhi, Atishi said, “Sonam Wangchuk and the people of Ladakh are also fighting against the rule of the Lieutenant Governor, demanding full statehood for Ladakh. The people of Delhi stand with the people of Ladakh.

The rule of the Lieutenant Governor should end in Ladakh. The rule of the Lieutenant Governor should also end in Delhi.”

“Sonam Wangchuk, along with 150 Ladakhi brothers and sisters, was peacefully coming to Delhi. They have been stopped by the police and detained at Bawana police station since last night,” she said, asking, “Is it wrong to demand democratic rights for Ladakh? Is it wrong for the satyagrahis to go to Gandhi Samadhi on October 2?”

“Detaining Sonam Wangchuk is a dictatorship,” Atishi said.
