Stock market extends winning streak, Nifty inches closer to 26,000

New Delhi, Feb 10 (UNI) The stock market on Tuesday extended its winning streak for a third straight session with the Nifty inching closer to 26,000 intraday.

At close, the Sensex was up 208.17 points or 0.25 percent at 84,273.92, and the Nifty was up 67.85 points or 0.26 percent at 25,935.15.

BSE 150 MidCap Index climbed 0.21%, while the BSE 250 SmallCap Index rose by 0.46%. The overall market capitalisation of BSE-listed firms rose to over Rs 474 lakh crore from Rs 473 lakh crore in the previous session.

On Nifty, around 27 stocks ended higher with the top gainers, Eternal up by 5.19%, Tata Steel up by 2.90%, and ONGC up by 1.88%.

The top losers were HCL Technologies (2.03%), Bajaj Finance (1.82%), and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories (1.55%).

Among the sectors, almost all indices ended higher except for Nifty Pharma which was down by 0.36%, Healthcare down by 0.27%, PSU Bank down by 0.19%, and Nifty Bank down by 0.07%.

Nifty Media was up 2.40% and Auto up by 1.37% registering strong gains.

On the BSE, around 127 stocks hit their 52-week highs while 56 stocks hit their 52-week lows in intraday trade on the BSE.

Those on the highs were SBI, Titan, Tata Steel, UltraTech Cement, Shriram Finance, Samvardhana Motherson International, JSW Steel, and Indus Towers. On the lows were Kansai Nerolac Paints, Dreamfolks Services, and Pine Labs.

Among the key auto stocks, Eicher Motors and Maruti Suzuki shares rose over 1% while Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles shares closed in the green with marginal gains.

Shares of SBI emerged as the top gainer on the index, rising nearly 8% to touch a fresh 52-week high.
