New Delhi, Feb 11 (UNI) The Indian stock market ended largely unchanged in a volatile trading session today amid gains in certain key stocks.
At close, the Sensex was down 40.28 points or 0.05 per cent at 84,233.64, while the Nifty edged up 18.70 points or 0.07 pc to 25,953.85.
BSE 150 Mid-Cap Index ended 0.02 pc lower, while the BSE 250 SmallCap Index climbed 0.13 pc.
Among the sectors, the key performers were Nifty Healthcare (up by 1.62 pc), Auto (by 1.30 pc), PSU Bank (by 1.03 pc) and Pharma (by 1.01 pc) while Nifty Bank ended 0.20 pc higher.
On Nifty, the top gainers were Eicher Motors (up by 6.45 pc), Apollo Hospitals Enterprise (by 3.98 pc), and Max Healthcare Institute (by 3.33 pc).
The top losers were TCS (down by 2.53 pc), Infosys (1.79 pc), and Coal India (1.67 pc).
Around 131 stocks hit their 52-week highs while 75 stocks hit their 52-week lows on the BSE.
Those on the highs included Titan Company, SBI, Bajaj Auto, Eicher Motors and Samvardhana Motherson International, while Berger Paints India, Hexaware Technologies, Kansai Nerolac Paints, Mastek and SpiceJet were among the lows.
The Nifty IT index declined up to 1.3 pc with the Persistent Systems was the top loser falling by over 2 pc while Tata Consultancy Services and Coforge also declined up to 2 pc.
HCL Technologies and Infosys were among other laggards.
Tata Motors shares jumped more than 5 pc to hit a fresh 52-week high.
