State-level “Red Run Mini Marathon” organized

  • Awareness about HIV/AIDS increased among youth

Bhopal, Under the guidelines of the Madhya Pradesh State AIDS Control Committee and NACO, the “State Level Red Run Mini Marathon” was organized in collaboration with the BSSS NSS unit and Red Ribbon Club and the organization of NSS Cell Barkatullah University. The theme of this 10 km long race was “Youth for HIV/AIDS”, which aimed to increase awareness about HIV/AIDS among youth and encourage positive thinking in society. Mrs. Surabhi Gupta (Project Director, Madhya Pradesh AIDS Control Committee) was the chief guest at the said function.

The marathon started from TT Nagar Stadium at 8 a.m. today, passed through Atal Path, Bhadbhada Square, MANIT Square, and Mata Mandir Square, and ended again at TT Nagar Stadium. A large number of youth participated in this event, which sent a message of a healthy lifestyle and awareness in society.

To increase the enthusiasm of the youth and spread awareness about AIDS, volunteers of the National Service Scheme and Red Ribbon Club presented street plays and flash mobs on the theme “Youth’s War Against AIDS”. Through this campaign, the participants demonstrated their knowledge and social responsibility towards HIV/AIDS, thereby sending a strong and positive message to society.

A total of 52 participants from female, male, and transgender categories took part in the marathon, and the outstanding participants of all three categories were awarded first, second, and third prizes at the state level by Dr. S.K. Jain (Vice Chancellor, Barkatullah University).

A total of 31 volunteers (10 male, 20 female, and 1 male program officer) from Red Ribbon Club BSSS participated in this activity.

This program was completed under the guidance of program officers Dr. Dharmendra Bahadur Singh and Dr. Naina Singh and the leadership of senior volunteers.
