Bhopal: A massive inter-school Kho-Kho tournament, the 12th St. George Cup, recently concluded at St. George Senior Secondary School, Bhopal, featuring a stellar turnout of 780 student-athletes across 65 teams from 26 schools. The competition spanned U-14, U-17, and U-19 categories for both boys and girls.
Girls’ U-17 Team Retains Championship Title
In a remarkable display of athletic prowess, the St. Joseph Convent, Eidgah Hills girls’ U-17 team secured the championship for the second consecutive year. Led by Captain Tulip Bharal, the team defeated Father Agnel School in the final clash. Their path to victory included a strong semi-final win against Maharishi Centre, Lambakheda, and a quarter-final victory over Lakshmi Devi School.
This success adds to St. Joseph’s impressive streak, having already won the inter-school Kho-Kho competitions hosted by both Rabindranath Tagore University and the School Education Department this year.
The prize distribution ceremony, held on November 31st, was graced by International Rowing player Diljot Kaur and Sahodaya Group Joint Secretary Shailesh Zhope. Soumya Nahar was named the Best Player of the tournament. The triumphant team was trained by Coach Vishnukant Sahay and managed by Shraddha Patil.
