St. Joseph’s Convent School celebrates Independence Day with grandeur

Bhopal: St. Joseph’s Convent School, Idgah Hills, concluded its week-long Independence Day celebrations with a spectacular cultural program on August 15th, marking the 79th anniversary of India’s freedom. The events, aimed at promoting a spirit of “peace, progress and prosperity,” saw students from all classes participate in a variety of competitions.

The week began with choral recitation for junior students, followed by a patriotic song competition, collage making on social themes, and street plays (Nukkad Natak) by senior classes. The grand finale on Independence Day itself was a showcase of these winning entries. The chief guest, Colonel Ajit Kumar, a distinguished officer from the Indian Army, was greeted with a salute by the school band before hoisting the National Flag.

The cultural program was a vibrant display of talent and patriotism. Tiny tots presented a scintillating dance, while students of Class 4 painted a picture of a secular India through their melodious song, “Rang aisa bharo.” Students of classes 10 and 12 staged their prize-winning Nukkad Natak, delivering powerful messages on environmental conservation and the fight against corruption. The school choir’s patriotic song, a blend of three ragas, took the audience on a musical journey.

In his address, Colonel Kumar spoke about the sacrifices of freedom fighters and urged students to preserve India’s independence by joining the armed forces or working for harmony and peace within the nation. The event concluded with a grand finale celebrating the “Spirit of Freedom,” followed by a vote of thanks.
