Bhopal: A 16-day community policing initiative titled ‘Srijan’ concluded with a grand ceremony in the Nishatpura police station area of the State capital, marking a significant step towards police–public partnership. Organised jointly by the Police Department and Muskan Foundation, the programme saw participation from around 350 children drawn from Gandhi Nagar, Arif Nagar, Kamla Nagar and Ehsan Nagar.

The training camp focused on self-defence, personality development and life skills, aiming to build confidence, discipline and leadership qualities among children. Senior police officials, including DIGs Dr Vineet Kapoor and Kiran Lata Kerketta, DCP Zone-4 Mayur Khandelwal, AIG Amrit Meena and ACP Akshay Chaudhary, attended the valedictory function.

The ceremony began with a warm welcome to the guests, followed by cultural performances showcasing Marathi and Gond folk dances. Martial arts demonstrations and a power walk by the children emerged as the highlights, symbolising strength, self-belief and security. A particularly emotional moment unfolded when Khandelwal placed an IPS cap on his young daughter, dressed in police uniform, inspiring children to dream of serving society with dignity.

Participants and parents shared positive feedback, noting visible improvements in confidence, discipline and balance between studies and daily responsibilities. Speakers emphasised stronger communication between parents and children to bring about positive social change.

All participants were awarded training certificates, with organisers underlining that ‘Srijan’ is not merely a camp, but a humane initiative fostering trust, cooperation and shared responsibility between the police and the community.
