Sri Lanka win toss, India bat first

Dubai, Sept 26 (UNI) Sri Lanka won the toss and opted to field against India in an inconsequential Super 4 clash at a pitch expected to favour batsmen, according to cricket experts Simon Doull and Ravi Shastri.

“India scored 168 on this pitch in the last game here. The surface should remain good for the entire duration. Scores around 160-170 haven’t been successfully chased. There’s a little help for seamers, not much for spinners. Batters will look to attack in the first six overs. Overall, it’s a very good surface,” the experts said.

India captain Suryakumar Yadav said, “Just continue doing what we have been doing. We were actually looking to bat first. Good atmosphere, good game and we are looking forward to it. Dropped catches are part of the game. We have two changes – Bumrah and Dube are out, Arshdeep and Harshit come in.”

Sri Lanka, led by Charith Asalanka, aim to restrict India to 170-175. He said, “We know we can’t qualify for the final but it’s still an important game. It is a good pitch and we want to restrict them to 170-175. Our openers have been in great form. One change – Janith Liyanage comes in for Chamika Karunaratne.”

The match promises an exciting contest as India look to consolidate their position while Sri Lanka aim to end their campaign on a high note.
