Specially-abled students showcase their talent and imagination

Bhopal: A unique and heartwarming creative workshop was held in Bhopal under the joint aegis of Umang Gauravdeep Welfare Society and Shilpkar Karigar Mahila Kalyan Samiti. In this special session, disabled students were trained to make rakhis using bamboo and paddy grains—an initiative that beautifully blended art, tradition, and inclusion.

The training was led by renowned artist and state-level Vishwakarma Award recipient, Shri Dharmendra Rohar. Participants included hearing- and speech-impaired children from Umang Sanstha, along with students with intellectual disabilities (ID), who showed immense enthusiasm and creativity.

Using humble materials like bamboo and rice grains, the students crafted rakhis shaped like Lord Ganesha, flowers, leaves, and garlands. Every piece reflected their dedication, attention to detail, and artistic expression.

Dharmendra Rohar called the experience unforgettable, stating that the special children demonstrated a level of concentration, observation, and eagerness to learn that surpassed many of their peers. He described the workshop as one of the most positive and inspiring moments of his life.

At the conclusion of the program, Deepti Patwa, founder of the organization, expressed heartfelt gratitude to Shri Rohar. She praised the workshop for giving a platform to these children to showcase their hidden potential and creativity.
