Special health camp by CMHO office for NCC cadets

  • Over 60 Abha IDs made, all pathology tests, sickle cell screening done

Bhopal: Chief Medical and Health Officer Office, Bhopal organized a special screening and awareness camp for NCC cadets at the National Cadet Corps Headquarters. Sickle cell and hemophilia disease were examined in the camp, along with health checkup of the cadets.

81 cadets of Army, Naval and Air Force took advantage of health services in the camp. Abha ID of 61 cadets was made. Commander of National Cadet Corps Bhopal Brigadier Ajit Singh, Colonel Dushyant, Captain Rahul Gupta along with health department officials, doctors and paramedical staff participated in the camp.

On this occasion, Captain Dr. Chandra Bahadur Singh Dangi, Nodal Officer of NCC Directorate Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, gave information about the symptoms, investigation and prevention of sickle cell. Sickle cell anemia is a genetic disease that is passed from parents to children. It is more prevalent in the tribal population of India, but this disease is also seen in other communities. The main symptoms of this disease are pain in body parts, lack of physical development and anemia. This disease also affects many organs like lungs, heart, kidneys, eyes, bones and brain. It is widely found in tribal groups, especially those living in malaria-prone areas. Under the centenary year of independence, a target has been set to make the country free from sickle cell disease by 2047. Work is being done in the state under the sickle cell operation guideline. The program is also being monitored through the National Sickle Cell Portal and Dashboard.

Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr. Prabhakar Tiwari said that to prevent the spread of sickle cell, it is very important to have marital relations after matching the genetic card. The spread of the disease can be reduced by timely marking, genetic counseling, tracking of carriers and victims.
