- Intellectuals, activists attend AI Bahujan Intellect Summit-2024
Bhopal, On the occasion of Constitution Day, the All India Bahujan Intellect Summit-2024 was successfully organized at Samanvay Bhavan, New Market. The central theme of the event was “India Without a Constitution: A Hypothetical Perspective,” where prominent intellectuals and social activists from across the nation shared their insights.
Speakers emphasized the importance of the Constitution and the need for its preservation.
Digvijaya Singh, former Chief Minister, Madhya Pradesh said the Constitution is the soul of India. If the Constitution is removed, we will lose the fundamental principles of social justice, equality, and democracy. We must strive to bring constitutional values to every citizen. Congress has always upheld the values of the Constitution. If we truly care for the marginalized, we must have unwavering faith in the Constitution.
Ashok Wankhede, political analyst & senior journalist said Indian democracy survives today because of the Constitution. Unfortunately, political parties are now attempting to undermine it, and constitutional institutions are being weakened. The media, as the fourth pillar of democracy, must play its role in protecting the Constitution. A Constitution-less India would be dominated by chaos and inequality. This event inspires us to understand and propagate the significance of constitutional values.
Prof. DN Sandanshiv, former Member, Law Commission, said the Constitution is not merely a legal document but a social contract. It is the foundation that unites India. If this contract were to be dissolved, our diversity would lead to conflict instead of unity.
Constitution also imposes duty
Badal Saroj, Editor, Loktantra, said imagining India without a Constitution warns us of the dangers that arise when constitutional principles are ignored. The Constitution not only provides us with rights but also imposes duties. It is our responsibility to protect it. Without the Constitution, Indian democracy would collapse, jeopardizing the rights of the common man, the underprivileged, and women, whose conditions would deteriorate further.”
Dr. (Major) Manoj Raje, social activist, said the British believed that India’s democracy would crumble after independence due to a lack of political, administrative, and military leadership experience. However, the brilliance of our Constitution makers proved them wrong. Over the past 75 years, Indian democracy has stood strong and gained global recognition.
He said the Constitution is a testament to Dr. B. R. Ambedkar’s visionary approach, ensuring security for every class, creature, and community. We must safeguard it for future generations. Without the Constitution, India would cease to be the nation we envisioned. We are committed to protecting the Indian Constitution at all costs.
Sunil Borse, social activist, said the Constitution is the pillar of our identity and rights. We must educate all sections of society about its significance and contribute to its protection.
To promote constitutional awareness, we are also planning to launch a public movement, he added.
The program witnessed an enthusiastic turnout, making it a meaningful initiative to raise public awareness about the Constitution. The organizing committee extended gratitude to all participants, attendees, and supporters.
