South Africa A take 105-run lead over India A

Bengaluru, Oct 31 (UNI) South Africa A gained a 105-run lead over India A on Day 2 of the first unofficial Test at the Centre of Excellence Grounds here today.

After being bowled out for 234 in their first innings, India A could not contain the disciplined attack of Prenelan Subrayen, who returned figures of 5 for 61, showcasing his enduring resilience.

India A’s innings was anchored by Ayush Mhatre, who scored a brisk 65, and Sai Sudharsan, who made 32, but their efforts could not prevent regular collapses triggered by Subrayen’s spin. Rishabh Pant’s brief cameo ended early, falling to a short delivery from Cele.

South Africa A reached 30 without loss at stumps, with openers Lesego Senokwane (9) and Jordan Hermann (12) steady at the crease. Tanush Kotian’s turn and bounce troubled the batsmen late in the day, but South Africa A are poised to extend their lead further on Day 3.

Subrayen’s marathon spell underlined his importance to the side, rebounding strongly after being left out of South Africa’s main squad for the series. India A will look to regroup and prevent the lead from ballooning as the contest progresses.
