Sitharaman inaugurates new ‘CGST Bhawan’ : A symbol of modern India’s commitment to good governance

New Delhi, Oct 24 (UNI) union Finance and Corporate Affairs Minister Nirmala Sitharaman today inaugurated the newly-constructed Central Goods and Services Tax (CGST) Bhawan in Ghaziabad.

Describing the new complex as a symbol of modern India’s commitment to good governance, Sitharaman said, “New CGST Bhawan, Ghaziabad, is a symbol of modern India’s commitment to good governance – where infrastructure meets innovation and efficiency aligns with empathy.”

Sitharaman emphasized the need for next-generation revenue infrastructure to work in tune with next-generation taxation. “Need for next-generation revenue infrastructure to work in tune with next-generation taxation,” she said, highlighting the importance of technology-driven compliance and simplified procedures.

The Finance Minister also spoke about the recently launched GST 2.0, saying it has created a remarkable global buzz and stands as a symbol of India’s progressive economic vision. “GST 2.0 has created a remarkable global buzz and stands as a symbol of India’s progressive economic vision,” Sitharaman said, adding that the reform has generated significant employment opportunities and made life easier for the common man.

The new CGST Bhawan in Ghaziabad brings together the offices of CGST Ghaziabad Commissionerate, CGST Audit Commissionerate & CGST Appeals Commissionerate, and Pay & Accounts Office under one roof, achieving administrative synergy and operational efficiency.

The state-of-the-art green complex comprises two basements and seven floors spread across 2.21 acres, with parking for nearly 300 vehicles, built at a total cost of Rs 116 crore.

The building incorporates several eco-friendly features, including a solar power plant, rainwater harvesting system, smart energy meters, waste-to-pencil unit, and solid waste management system. It has also been awarded the 2024 GRIHA Exemplary Performance Award and rated Five-Star by GRIHA.

The new CGST Bhawan in Ghaziabad is a landmark of coordinated, transparent, and taxpayer-friendly governance, reflecting the Department’s continuous evolution towards excellence in public service.

The Finance Minister’s emphasis on technology-driven compliance, simplified procedures, and empathy towards taxpayers underscores the government’s commitment to making life easier for honest taxpayers.
