Bhopal: The Sindhi Central Panchayat of Bhopal on Thursday submitted a memorandum at the Collector’s office demanding the immediate arrest of Chhattisgarh-based leader Amit Baghel for allegedly making derogatory remarks against Lord Jhulelal and the Sindhi community. The Panchayat stated that Baghel posted objectionable and insulting comments on social media on 26 October 2025, deeply hurting religious sentiments. An FIR in this matter has already been filed at a police station in Raipur.
A delegation including Panchayat President Kishore Tanwani, Vice President D.D. Meghani, Mahesh Bajaj, Shankar Sachdev, General Secretary Dinesh Meghani and several community members took part in the submission. Members of the community held a peaceful demonstration and urged the authorities to take strict legal action.
Speaking to the media, President Kishore Tanwani said that Baghel has a history of making inflammatory statements and has previously served jail sentences. He alleged that Baghel’s actions were intended to create discord in society.
The Panchayat expressed hope that the district administration and the state government would act promptly to ensure the protection of the community’s religious beliefs and maintain communal harmony.
