Shobhana Bandopadhyay, senior railway officer of Indian Railway Service of Signal Engineers (IRSSE) year-1987 batch, took charge of the post of General Manager in West Central Railway on Wednesday.
Bandopadhyay is the first woman railway officer to hold the charge of an important post like General Manager in West Central Railway. Before assuming the charge of General Manager, she was working as Principal Executive Director (Vigilance) in Railway Board. Bandopadhyay, who has vast experience, has served in various divisions of Central Railway, South Eastern Railway and Northern Railway as well as in the Headquarters of Northern Railway and Railway Board. West Central Railway is also not new for Bandopadhyay, she has earlier also worked on various posts in Signal and Telecommunication Department in PAMRE. Bandopadhyay is one of the distinguished women engineers of Indian Railways with rich experience in railway operations management, planning, design and control, maintenance, construction and various project management.
