Shining example of determination: PM Modi lauds Blind Women’s T20 World Cup champions

New Delhi, Nov 24 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the Indian Blind Women’s Cricket Team for making history by winning the inaugural Blind Women’s T20 World Cup.

Describing the team as a shining example of hard work, teamwork, and unwavering determination, he praised each player for their remarkable achievement, saying their success would inspire generations to come.

In a post on X, calling the achievement “a shining example of hard work, team effort and determination,” Modi said, “each player is a champion!” and expressed confidence that the team’s feat would inspire generations.

“This is indeed a historic sporting achievement,” the Prime Minister wrote. “My best wishes to the team for their future endeavours.”

Union Home Minister Amit Shah also lauded the team’s landmark victory, calling it a proud moment for the nation. “A historic day for Indian sports! Congratulations to Team India on their remarkable victory in Women’s T20 Cricket World Cup for the Blind 2025,” he posted, adding that the triumph reflected the players’ “resolve and dedication to win honors for the nation.”

“Our Tiranga today flutters higher with pride at your achievement,” the minister said.

BCCI Secretary Jay Shah congratulated the side as well, noting that the first-ever Blind Women’s T20 World Cup “re-defines the limits of ‘ability’ and inspires differently abled athletes in India and around the world.”

India defeated Nepal by seven wickets in the final played at the P. Sara Oval in Colombo on Sunday. After restricting Nepal to 114 for 5 in 20 overs, India chased the target in 12.1 overs to complete an unbeaten run in the six team tournament featuring Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Australia and the United States.
