Shekhar Kapur reveals AI-generated sci-fi series Warlord for global creators

New Delhi, July 30 (UNI) Acclaimed director Shekhar Kapur has unveiled Warlord, a revolutionary science fiction series created completely through generative AI, signaling an exciting new frontier in digital storytelling.

Collaborating with Mumbai-based Studio Blo, a generative AI company born in Mumbai and represented in Dubai, London, and LA that was established in 2024.

Kapur writes, directs, and produces the show, which combines sci-fi, fantasy, and romance into a common narrative universe.

A short teaser was released on July 29, and it gave us a look at a dreamlike, otherworldly universe: a jellyfish-shaped spaceship floating over a distant planet, a glowing woman disintegrating into particles, and a shadowy watcher observing.

A romance that cuts across dimensions is at the heart of Warlord—whenever the interdimensional fighter is in mortal peril, his beloved drags him out of harm’s way across dimensions. Kapur calls this story an exploration of whether “love can exist across dimensions.” Warriors in the show defend magical crystals which energize a key galaxy.

In addition to a series, Warlord is conceived as a living universe — its design assets and character IP will be open-source. Creators around the world can repurpose them for their own stories, contributing to a decentralized multiverse under shared ownership, with each use being licensed for a nominal fee.

Kapur, a Padma Bhushan recipient and maker of critically acclaimed films such as Bandit Queen, Elizabeth, and Mr. India, maintains that AI has empowered creatives to match Hollywood blockbusters. Warlord signals a revolutionary narrative method that subverts established cinematic boundaries while opening up to international collaboration.
