New Delhi, Oct 21 (UNI) Home Minister Amit Shah today extended greetings to police personnel across the nation on the occasion of Police Commemoration Day.
In a message on his social media handle X, Shah lauded the unwavering dedication and bravery of India’s police forces.
“Warm greetings to the police personnel on Police Commemoration Day,” the Home Minister said.
“As first responders, our forces have scripted glory by thwarting crimes and threats to internal security and by protecting citizens rights with exemplary courage and commitment,” Shah said.
Paying homage to those who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty, the Home Minister added, “My solemn homage to the martyrs who laid down their lives serving the nation.”
On October 21, 1959, 10 valiant policemen laid down their lives in an ambush laid by heavily armed Chinese troops at Hot Springs, Ladakh. Since then, October 21 is observed as Police Commemoration Day every year.
