New Delhi, May 7 (UNI) Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday convened an urgent meeting with Chief Ministers, DGPs and Chief Secretaries of border states here.
According to sources, apart from the Chief Ministers of Jammu and Kashmir, Gujarat, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal and Sikkim, Directors General of Police and Chief Secretaries also participated in the meeting.
According to sources, the meeting was called in view of the civilians being targeted by Pakistani firing on the Line of Control (LoC) and the International Border. During the meeting, it was emphasised that residents from border areas should be shifted to safer places as soon as possible.
Notably, ten civilians, including a woman and two children were killed and 45 injured after Pakistan resorted to heavy firing on Wednesday in the Poonch sector of Jammu and Kashmir, after India targeted terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
Earlier in the day, Shah lauded the armed forces on his social media handle X.
He said, “OperationSindoor is Bharat’s response to the brutal killing of our innocent brothers in Pahalgam. The Modi government is resolved to give a befitting response to any attack on India and its people. Bharat remains firmly committed to eradicating terrorism from its roots”.
