Bhopal: Sant Hirdaram Girls College hosted a crucial session titled “Breaking the Silence: Mental Health Issues Among Youth,” featuring Dr Samiksha Sahu as the keynote speaker. This event was organized collaboratively by the college’s AICTE Cell, the Department of Language, and the NCC Unit, highlighting a unified commitment to student welfare.
Dr. Sahu, a distinguished psychiatrist and child mental health specialist, currently serves as an Assistant Professor at Gandhi Medical College, Bhopal. Her presentation provided profound insights into the mental health challenges facing contemporary youth, offering actionable strategies for students and faculty to address these critical issues.
Key topics included balancing social well-being with academic pressures, proactive mental health management, and confronting self-harm and suicide. Additionally, Dr. Sahu analyzed the impact of social media on adolescents’ psychological well-being.
The session integrated academic discourse with cultural pedagogy, featuring a group discussion rooted in Bhartiya Gyan Parampara principles. Dr. Dalima Parwani, Principal of SHGC, emphasized the importance of proactive engagement in mental health.
