Kottayam (Kerala), Jan 2 (UNI) A pedestrian who was critically injured after being hit by a car allegedly driven under the influence of alcohol by Malayalam television actor Sidharth Prabhu has succumbed to his injuries.
The deceased has been identified as Thangaraj (60), a lottery vendor from Tamil Nadu.
The accident occurred on December 24 near the Nattakam College junction on the MC Road.
Thangaraj was admitted to a private hospital in a serious condition and died on Thursday after several days of treatment.
According to the police, Sidharth Prabhu was found to be drunk at the time of the accident, and a breathalyser test confirmed alcohol consumption beyond the permissible limit. The actor was taken into custody soon after the incident, and his car was seized.
A case had earlier been registered against him for rash and negligent driving. With the death of the victim, police said more serious charges would be incorporated in the case.
Further investigation is underway.
