Mumbai, May 3 (UNI) The equity market remained firm for another week as the BSE Sensex rallied 1289.46 pts or 1.63 per cent to settle at 80,501.99 during the week ended on Friday on strong gains, supported by robust corporate earnings and series of positive domestic data.
The Nifty, too, advanced by 307.35 points or 1.28 per cent to settle at 24,346.70.
Of four sessions, three days it was positive while one session, it was seen negative.
Looking ahead, investors will remain focused on geopolitical developments, ongoing tariff disputes, and overall market trends.
BSE Mid-Cap index rose 0.42 percent to close at 42,707.87. BSE Small-Cap index fell 1.33 percent to end at 47,365.54.
First two sessions of the week, it remained in green as on Monday BSE Sensex zoomed 1,005.84 points to end at 80,218.37. Nifty soared 298.75 points to settle at 24,328.50, fuelled by positive earnings reports from index heavyweight Reliance Industries.
On Tuesday, the BSE Sensex added 70.01 points to Settle at 80,288.38. Nifty rose 7.45 points to 24,335.95 , buoyed by strong foreign and domestic institutional inflows that kept overall market sentiment upbeat.
On Wednesday it was seen weak as the BSE Sensex shed 46.14 points to 80,242.24. Nifty fell 1.75 points to 24,334.20.
The stock market remained closed on Thursday on account of Maharashtra Day.
On Friday, BSE Sensex added 259.75 points to settle at 80,501.99.Nifty rose 12.50 points to settle at 24,346.70., Supported by optimism over US-India trade negotiations, as foreign investors returned to the market.
During the week following share rose Reliance Industries (RIL) rallied 9.38 percent. Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone (APSEZ) rallied 4.11 per cent
and Mahindra & Mahindra jumped 2.38 per cent.
Following share fell during the week Tata Motors by 2.47 percent, Ashok Leyland fell 2.04 percent , Eicher Motors by 2.53 per cent, Bajaj Auto by 2.52 per cent.
Hero MotoCorp by 3.87 per cent . TVS Motor Company fell 1.09 percent., Adani Enterprises by 0.20 percent , UltraTech Cement by 1.05 per cent.
Adani Total Gas shed 1.22 per cent, Bajaj Finance tumbled 4.99 per cent and Bajaj Finserv fell by 5.45 per cent
