Mumbai, Dec 5 (UNI) Extending its rally for the fifth consecutive session on Thursday, the BSE Sensex zoomed 809.53 pts to close at 81,765.86 on the strength of IT, Bankex, and energy stocks amid a strong European market.
The National Stock Exchange (NSE) rose 240.95 pts to 24,708.40.
Despite high volatility, the equity market maintained its upward graph only, as the Sensex opened strong at 81,182.74, rising 226 pts. During the day it was spurted 1361 pts at 82,317.74, the day’s high, before closing at 81,765.86, advancing 809.53 pts from its previous close.
Meanwhile, it was slipped 489 pts at 80,467.37 days low.
The Nifty registered days high and low at 24,857.75 pts and 24,295.55 pts, respectively.
The stocks that kept the market strong were IT by 1.81 pc, Bankex by 0.68 pc, and Energy by 0.64 pc.
The mid cap rose 0.27 pc and Small cap by 0.16 pc.
In 30 scrips, 28 advanced while 2 declined.
The gainers were TCS by 2.29 pc to Rs 4455, Titan by 2.26 pc to Rs 3438.55, Infosys by 2.20 pc to Rs 1931.90, Bharti Airtel by 1.95 pc to Rs 1615, and Bajaj Finance by 1.78 pc to Rs 6852.
The losers were NTPC by 0.82 pc to Rs 369.65 and Asian paints by 0.06 pc to Rs 2458.70.
Asian Market witnessed a mixed trend as Strait Times was up by 0.59 pc and Taiwan Weighted by 0.05 pc.
Hang Seng fell by 0.93 pc and Kospi by 0.91 pc.
