Mumbai, Jun 12 (UNI) BSE Sensex in a volatile trade on Thursday tanked by 823.16 pts to settle at 81,698.91 amid feeble global cues. Investors are assessing the trade deal between the US and China while monitoring tensions between the US and Iran, which have pushed oil prices higher.
National Stock Exchange (NSE) too slumped 253.20 points to settle at 24,838.40
The Sensex opened at 82,571.67 against its previous close of 82,515.14 and plunged to an intraday low of 81,523.16. It recorded the day high of 82,661.04
The NSE registered a day’s high at 25,196.20 and a day’s low at 24,825.90
Mid-cap declined by 1.52 pc and the Small-cap fell by 1.38 pc.
The market breadth was Negative. On the BSE, 1,289 shares rose and 2,722 shares fell. A total of 140 shares were unchanged.

Notable loser were Tata Motors by 2.91 pc to Rs 714.80, Titan by 3,446.50, Eterenal by 2.32 pc to Rs 251.00, Tata Steel by 2.36 pc to Rs 152.75, M&M by 2.30 pc 3,011.15, Power Grid 2.27 pc to Rs 288.75, and LT by 2.15 pc to Rs 3,605.75
Gainers were Asiana Paints by 0.79 pc to 2,226.00, Bajaj Finsv by 0.60 pc to Rs 2,024.45, and Tech Mahindra by 0.36 pc to Rs 1,644.00
Rising tensions in the Middle East weighed on markets globally. Major Asian and European markets suffered significant losses during the session on signs of rising tensions between the US and Iran.
European markets traded lower on Thursday, FTSE down by 0,15 Percent CAC by 0.57 pc, and DAX by 1.05 pc
Asian stocks ended mixed as investors reacted to U.S. President Donald Trump’s statement that a trade agreement with China was “done,” pending final approval from both himself and Chinese President Xi Jinping. Nikkel 225 declined by 0,65 pc, Hangseng down by 1.38 FTSE, while Kospi moved up by 0.44 pc.
In the U.S., major indices closed lower overnight. The S&P 500 fell 0.3 pc while the NASDAQ Composite fell 0.50 pc. The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed flat at 42,865.77 points.
