Mumbai, Jan 28 (UNI) Snapping a losing streak of the last two sessions, the BSE Sensex jumped 535.24 pts to close at 75,901.41 following liquidity measures announced by the Reserve Bank of India.
The National Stock Exchange (NSE) rose 128.10 pts at 22,957.25.
The Sensex opened strong at 75,659, up 293 pts. During the day it spurted 1146 pts at 76,512.96, a day high, before closing at 75,901.41, surging 535.24 pts from its previous close.
The Nifty registered days high and low at 23,137.95 and 22,857.65 pts respectively.
The stocks that lifted the market were Bankex by 1.49 pc, Financial Services by 1.45 pc and Realty by 1.27 pc.
The Mid-cap fell by 0.61 pc and the Small-cap by 1.77 pc.
In 30 scrips, 19 advanced while 11 declined.
The gainers were Bajaj Finance by 4.39 pc to Rs 7613.20, Axis Bank by 3.82 pc to Rs 984.10, Bajaj Finserv by 3.28 pc to Rs 1767.90 and HDFC Bank by 2.51 pc to Rs 1670.55.
The losers were Sun Pharma by 4.47 pc to Rs 1705.90, L& T by 1.32 pc to Rs 3414.35, NTPC by 1.27 pc to Rs 317.95 and Powergrid by 1.11 pc to Rs 283.85.
