Mumbai, June 24 (UNI) BSE Sensex on Tuesday rose by 158.32 points to close at 82,055.11, mirroring cue from Asian peers, amid easing crude oil prices, trader said.
National Stock Exchange (NSE) too advanced by 72.45 points to settle at 25,044.35
The Sensex opened higher at 82,534.61 against its previous close of 81,896.79 after US President Donald Trump announced a ceasefire agreement between Iran and Israel and rose further to registered intra-day high of 83,018.16, Sensex registered intraday low of 81,900.12 erasing early gains, dragged by news of a ceasefire violation by Iran. trader added
The Nifty registered days high at 25,317,70 and low at 24,999.70 pts
The broader market outperformed the frontline indices. BSE Mid-Cap index rose 0.54 pc and BSE Small-Cap index added 0.71 pc
The market breadth was strong. On the BSE as 2,680 share rose and 1,324 shares fell. A total of 184 shares were unchanged.
Sectoral Indices that rose were BSE commodities by 1.12 pc, FMCG by 0.36 pc , Financial by 0.81 pc, Health care by 0.18 pc, Industrial by 0.34 pc , Telecom by 1.13 pc, Utilities by 0.19 pc, Auto by 0.62 pc, Bankex by 0.72 pc , Capital Goods by 0.26 pc, Consumer Durables by 0.42 pc. Metals by 0.96 pc, Power by 0.55 pc and Realty by 0.16 pc.
Sectoral loser were Teck by 0.07 pc, Oil & Gas by 0.17 pc IT by 0.11 pc and Energy by 0.18 pc.
In 30 scrips, 16 advanced while 14 declined.
Top five gainer were Adani ports by 2.72 pc to Rs 1,391,10, Tata steel by 1.71 pc to Rs 155.05, Kotak Bnak by 1.46 pc to Rs 2,216.70, Ultra tech by 1.39 pc to rs 11,605.25 and LT by 0.87 pc to Rs 3,614.50
Top five loser were Power grid by 1.41 pc to Rs 286.20, Trent by 0.74 pc to Rs 6,075.00, Maruti by 0.69 pc to Rs 12,615.00,HCL tech by 0.68 pc to Rs 1.691.70 and NTPC by 0.58 pc to Rs 331.75
European stocks edged higher, FTSE by 0.25 pc, CAC by 1.23 pc and DAX by 1.88 pc.
Asian markets soared on Tuesday Nikkei 225 by 1.13 pc, Straits Times by 0.64 pc, Hang Seng by 2.02 pc and Kospi by 2.87 pc
US Dow Jones futures jumped 301 points, pointing to a strong open for Wall Street.
Overnight in the US, all three major indices closed higher as investor nerves eased following Iran’s relatively muted response to the US airstrikes over the weekend. The Dow gained 0.89 pc , the S&P 500 rose 0.96 pc , and the Nasdaq advanced 0.94 pc .
