Mumbai, Oct 10 (UNI) The BSE Sensex on Thursday recovered 144.31 pts to close positive at 81,611.41 following gains in Bankex, Utilities, and Power stocks.
The National Stock Exchange (NSE) rose 16.50 pts at 24,998.45.
Sliding over 100 pts on Wednesday, the BSE Sensex opened strong at 81,832.66, up 365 pts.
During the day it rallied 535 pts at 82,002.84, a days high, before closing at 81,611.41, rising 144.31 pts from its previous close.
The NSE registered days high and low at 25,134.05 and 24,979.40 pts respectively.
The stocks that lifted the market were Bankex by 1.11 pc, Power by 0.75 pc, Utilities by 0.70 pc, and Financial Services by 0.65 pc.
The Mid-cap fell by 0.36 pc while the Small-cap rose by 0.43 pc.
In 30 scrips, 15 advanced, while 15 declined.
The gainers were Kotak Bank by 4.16 pc to Rs 1875.65, HDFC Bank by 1.75 pc to Rs 1662.30, IndusInd Bank by 1.43 pc to Rs 1360.50, Powergrid by 1.39 pc to Rs 334.35 and Maruti Suzuki by 1.34 pc to Rs 12,927.80.
The losers were Tech Mahindra by 2.32 pc to Rs 1620.30, Sun Pharma by 2.27 pc to Rs 1887.40, Infosys by 1.78 pc to Rs 1919.05, and Titan by 1.33 pc to Rs 3447.60.
