Mumbai, Oct 8 (UNI) Snapping a losing streak of the last six sessions, the BSE Sensex surges 584.81 pts to close positive at 81,634.81 pts on the strength of BSE services, Capital Goods, Industrials and Telecommunications stocks.
The National Stock Exchange (NSE) gained 217.40 pts at 25,013.15.
Though high oscillation was seen during the day, the equity market ended positive on Tuesday.
The Sensex opened negative at 80,826.56 and fell 224 pts. It further lost 237 pts at 80,813.07, a day low.
In late trade it erased earlier losses, and finished at 81,634.81, gaining 584.81 pts from its last close.
It registered days high at 81,763.28, up 713 pts.
The NSE registered days high and low at 25,044 and 24,756.80 pts respectively.
The stocks that gained were BSE services by 3.25 pc, Capital Goods by 2.82 pc, Industrials by 2.81 pc, and Telecommunications by 2.35 pc.
The Mid-cap rose by 1.86 pc and the Small-cap by 2.44 pc.
In 30 scrips, 19 advanced, while 12 declined.
The gainers were Adani Ports by 5.01 pc to Rs 1422, M& M by 3.48 pc to Rs 3167.70, Reliance Industries by 2.12 pc to Rs 2799, HDFC Bank by 1.94 pc to Rs 1651 and L& T by 1.81 pc to Rs 3532.50.
The losers were Tata Steel by 2.74 pc to Rs 159.80, Titan by 2.37 pc to Rs 3502.25, Bajaj Finserv by 2.02 pc to Rs 1842, and JSW Steel by 1.75 pc to Rs 1001.10.
