Sensex falls marginally by 9 pts

Mumbai,Nov 11 (UNI) The BSE Sensex on Monday eased 9.83 pts to close at 79,496.15 as selling was seen in Commodities, Health care, and Oil and Gas stocks.

The National Stock Exchange (NSE) slipped 6.90 pts at 24,141.30.

The Nifty registered days high and low at 24,336.70 and 24,004.60 pts respectively.

High volatility was seen during the day, as the Sensex opened at 79,298.46, falling 188 pts. It dropped 485 pts at 79,001.34, a day low, before closing at 79,496.15, declining 9.83 pts from its previous close.

Meanwhile, it surged 616 pts at 80,102.14, a days high.

The stocks that dragged the market were Commodities by 1.19 pc, Health care by 1.36 pc, and Oil and Gas by 0.71 pc.

The Mid-cap fell by 0.79 pc and the Small-cap by 1.74 pc.

In 30 scrips, 12 advanced, while 18 declined.

The losers were Asian Paints by 8.21 pc to Rs 2542, Bajaj Finance by 1.95 pc to Rs 6765, M& M by 1.94 pc to Rs 2921.50 and JSW Steel by 1.64 pc to Rs 980.55.

The gainers were Powergrid by 4.33 pc to Rs 330.10, Infosys by 1.57 pc to Rs 1859.85, HCL Technology by 1.49 pc to Rs 1865, and Tech Mahindra by 1.16 pc to Rs 1702.
