Mumbai, Mar 4 (UNI) Extending losses for the third straight session, the BSE Sensex on Tuesday slipped 96.01 pts to settle at 72,989.93 as selling pressure was seen in Auto, IT and Technology stocks.
The National Stock Exchange (NSE) declined 36.65 pts at 22,082.65.
The Sensex tumbled down 268 pts at 72,817.34 in opening session.
It remained in red throughout the session, as it dropped 452 pts at 72,633, days low before closing at 72,989.93, sliding 96.01 pts from its previous close.
The Nifty registered days high at 22,105.05 and low at 21,964.60 pts.
The stocks that fell were Auto by 1.13 pc, Technology by 0.86 pc and IT by 0.77 pc.
The Mid cap rose 0.08 pc and small cap by 1.28 pc.
In 30 scrips, 11 advances while 19 declined.
The losers were Bajaj FinServ by 2.70 pc to Rs 1788.60, HCL Technologies by 2.40 pc to Rs 1535.20, Nestle India Ltd by 1.82 pc to Rs 2145.95 and Asian Paints by 1.78 pc to Rs 2129.90.
The gainers were SBI by 2.98 pc to Rs 715.85, Zomato by 2.23 pc to Rs 227, TCS by 1.04 pc to Rs 3533 and HDFC Bank by 0.78 pc to Rs 1714.50.
