Mumbai, Oct 1 (UNI) The BSE Sensex remained negative for the third straight session on Tuesday, declining 33.49 pts to settle at 84,266.29 as selling pressure was seen in Telecommunications, Energy and Oil and Gas stocks.
The Nifty of the National Stock Exchange ( NSE) fell 13.95 pts at 25.,796.60.
Despite fluctuations, the Sensex ended negative only.
Slumping over 1200 pts on Monday, the equity market on Tuesday opened on a negative note at 84,257, falling 42 pts. It lost 201 pts at 84,098.94, a day low before closing at 84,266.29, sliding 33.49 pts from its last close.
Meanwhile, it surged 349 pts at 84,648.40, a day high.
The NSE registered days high and low at 25,788.45 and 25,739.20
pts respectively.
The stocks that kept the market low were Telecommunications by 0.86 pc, Oil and Energy by 0.71 pc, and Energy by 0.64 pc.
The Mid-cap rose by 0.27 pc and Small-cap by 0.56 pc.
In 30 scrips, 14 advanced while 16 declined.
The losers were IndusInd Bank by 2.64 pc to Rs 1409.80, Asian Paints by 1.54 pc to Rs 3277, Hind Unilever by 1.27 pc to Rs 2921.95 Tata Motors by 0.96 pc to Rs 965.35 and Tata Steel by 0.86 pc to Rs 167.
The gainers were Tech Mahindra by 2.93 pc to Rs 1622.35, M& M by 2.22 pc to Rs 3164.85, Kotak Bank by 1.55 pc to Rs 1881.20 and Infosys by 1.50 pc to Rs 1904.15.
