Mumbai, Aug 29 (UNI) The equity market kept its supremacy intact for the eighth session on Thursday with BSE Sensex ending a record high at 82,134.61, spurting 349.05 pts on the strength of Energy, Oil and Gas, and FMCG stocks despite weak global cues.
The National Stock Exchange (NSE) gained 99.60 pts at 25,151.95.
The Sensex went up 37 pts to open at 81,822.56. During the day it jumped 500 pts at 82,285.83, a day high before closing at 82,134.61, up 349.05 pts from its previous close.
It registered a day low at 81,682.78, declining 103 pts. days low.
The NSE registered days high and low at 25,192.90 and 24,998.50 pts respectively.
The stocks that advanced were Energy by 0.88 pc, Oil and Gas by 0.91 pc, and FMCG by 0.81 pc.
The Mid-cap fell 0.27 pc and Small-cap by 0.72 pc.
In 30 scrips, 21 advanced, 9 declined.
The gainers were Tata Motors by 3.57 pc to Rs 1112.95, Bajaj Finserv by 2.57 pc to Rs 1758, Bajaj Finance by 2.41 pc to Rs 7065, HCL Technology by 1.72 pc to Rs 1748.25 and ITC by 1.66 pc to Rs 505.40.
The losers were M& M by 1.11 pc to Rs 2766, Sun Pharma by 0.82 pc to Rs 1799, JSW Steel by 0.73 pc to Rs 942.40 and Kotak Bank by 0.68 pc to Rs 1778.70.
