Mumbai, Dec 30 (UNI) The BSE Sensex on Monday slipped 450.94 pts to settle at 78,248.13 in a volatile trade, as selling was seen in Metal, Capital Goods and Auto stocks.
The National Stock Exchange (NSE) declined 168.50 pts at 23,644.90.
The day opened on a negative note at 78,637.58, falling 62 pts. During the day it was tanked 622 pts at 78,077.13, days low, before closing at 78,248.13, sliding 450.94 pts from its previous close.
Meanwhile, it was surged 393 pts at 79,092.70, days high.
The Nifty registered days high and low at 23,915.35 pts and by 23,599.30 pts respectively.
The stocks that dragged the market were Metal by 1.89 pc, BSE services by 1.46 pc, Capital Goods by 1.84 pc and Auto by 1.36 pc.
The Mid cap rose 0.13 pc while Small cap fell by 0.47 pc.
In 30 scrips, 7 advanced while 23 declined.
The losers were Tata Motors by 2.24 pc to Rs 733.75, M& M by 1.55 pc to Rs 3002.80, Tata Steel by 1.48 pc to Rs 136.90 and SBI by 1.41 pc to Rs 788.30.
The gainers were Zomato by 4.33 pc to Rs 282.90, Tech Mahindra by 2.04 pc to Rs 1746.65, HCL Technology by 1.97 pc to Rs 1929 and Sun Pharma by 1.10 pc to Rs 1882.20.
