Sensex advances 294.85 pts

Mumbai, May 5 (UNI) The BSE Sensex on Monday gained further by 294.85 pts to close high at 80,796.84 following gains in Auto, Oil and Gas and BSE services stocks amid positive global cues.

The National Stock Exchange (NSE) rose 114.45 pts at 24,461.15.

The day opened on a strong note, as BSE Sensex gained 160 pts at 80,661.62 and it remained green throughout the session.

During the day it rallied 548 pts at 81,049.03, days high, before closing at 80,796.84, up 294.85 pts from its previous close.

The Nifty registered days high at 24,526.40 and low at 24,400.65 pts.

Stocks include BSE services, Auto, Oil and Gas and Consumer Discretionary Goods and services supported the market, as BSE services gained 2.99 pc, Auto by 1.88 pc, Oil and Gas by 1.95 pc and Consumer Discretionary Goods and services by 1.58 pc.

The Mid cap moved up1.45 pc and Small cap by 1.23 pc.

The gainers were Adani Ports by 6.31 pc to Rs 1347, Bajaj Finserv by 3.73 pc to Rs 2030, M & M by 3.26 pc to Rs 3026 and Eternal by 2.45 pc to Rs 240.

The losers were Kotak Bank by 4.50 pc to Rs 2086.65, SBI by 1.13 pc to Rs 191, Axis Bank by 0.64 pc to Rs 1174.60 and Titan by 0.62 pc to Rs 3318.50.
