New Delhi, Dec 18 (UNI) Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Thursday moved a motion in Parliament seeking leave to introduce the Securities Markets Code Bill, 2025.
The proposed legislation seeks to consolidate and amend existing laws governing the securities market, streamline regulatory frameworks, and address related matters.
The bill was subsequently referred to the respective Parliamentary Standing Committee for detailed examination and recommendations.
The move forms part of the government’s ongoing efforts to modernise and simplify financial regulations, improve market efficiency, and enhance investor protection within India’s securities ecosystem. The consolidation of laws is expected to provide greater clarity and coherence for market participants and regulators alike.
