New Delhi, Dec 29 (UNI) Minister of Science and Technology Jitendra Singh on Monday launched a new centre to house the nation’s Biotechnology Research and Innovation Council (BRIC), a nodal institution to advance the future bioeconomy goals of India.

Launched in November 2023 as an umbrella institution to facilitate collaboration among 14 independent BRIC institutions, the new building of the organisation inaugurated on Monday is located on the 4th Floor, NSIC Business Park in Delhi.

After the inaugural ceremony, a review meeting chaired by the Minister was held to assess BRIC initiatives, ministry officials said.

Rajesh S. Gokhale, Secretary, Department of Biotechnology (DBT), highlighted the institution’s role in advancing the Department’s biomanufacturing agenda earmarked in the BioE3 Policy.

The Secretary also drew attention to the future projects, including establishing BioE3 Parks as integrated ecosystems where R&D hubs of BRIC institutions, start-ups, MSMEs and large industries can co-locate to enable a smoother transition from research to pilot-scale manufacturing and commercialisation.
