Ch. Sambhajinagar, Sep 28 (UNI) The District Collector of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar has declared a holiday for all schools and colleges in the district tomorrow following a yellow weather alert issued by the Regional Meteorological Centre in Mumbai.
The order, which excludes educational institutions within the municipal corporation limits, was issued by District Collector Dilip Swami, who also serves as the Chairman of the District Disaster Management Authority, today under the Disaster Management Act 2005.

The Regional Meteorological Centre in Mumbai has issued a yellow alert for Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district for tomorrow, warning of torrential to extremely heavy rainfall at scattered locations.
Current weather conditions in the district are already severe, with all irrigation projects completely filled and water discharge ongoing in all rivers.
Today, excessive rainfall was recorded in 68 circles across the district, causing major rivers to reach warning levels and raising concerns about potential flood-like conditions in many areas.
The holiday declaration covers a wide range of educational institutions, including anganwadis, government and private primary and secondary schools, district council schools, municipal schools, aided and unaided schools, all residential schools, all colleges, and educational institutions run by private teaching establishments.
District authorities emphasised that the decision aims to prevent any untoward incidents and ensure student safety during emergency situations arising from excessive rainfall. This action is empowered by Section 25 of the Disaster Management Act 2005.
The order was issued with reference to the School Education and Sports Department’s government circular dated 2 August 2019, which grants District Collectors the authority to declare school holidays based on weather department warnings and local conditions.
For widespread dissemination, the District Information Officer and Director of All India Radio Centre in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar have been informed, and the District Women and Child Development Officer has been notified for appropriate action regarding anganwadi centres.
